Accessing specialised testing facilities can be very challenging, especially for unique devices or those confined to specific research groups. In line with our mission, we are dedicated to compiling an exhaustive global catalogue of advanced testing facilities, ensuring local accessibility.
Our current advanced testing offerings include the Gleeble 3800, 3D Digital Image Correlation (DIC), Bird Strike Simulator, High-speed Camera Recording, Split-Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB), Explosion Testing, and Two-stage Gas-gun Impact.
We continuously expand our array of equipment and locations. If the facility you need isn't on our list, let us know, and we'll secure access for you, guaranteeing that the cost won't exceed what you would pay locally.
This digital marvel swiftly heats samples at up to 10,000 °C per second, applying static forces of 20 tonnes for compression and 10 tonnes for tension tests. With displacement speeds of 2 meters per second, our isothermal testing covers a broad range of strain rates and temperatures, aligning with common metalworking processes.
This advanced equipment integrates thermal and mechanical testing seamlessly, ensuring precise data input for enhanced quality in large-scale manufacturing.
We frequently and extensively utilise 2D/3D Digital Image Correlation (DIC) as a sophisticated technology for precise deformation and strain analysis. This cutting-edge system meticulously records surface deformations, providing invaluable insights into material behaviour. With high-speed cameras and advanced algorithms, our DIC system guarantees precision, enhancing our capacity to assess structural integrity and deformation patterns across a range of tests such as tensile, compression, shear, bending, fatigue, fracture mechanics, impact loading, and thermal expansion.
To guarantee safety certification, every new aircraft engine design undergoes rigorous Foreign Object Damage (FOD) testing. Our cutting-edge Bird Strike simulator, equipped with a large diameter, propels birds weighing 4 to 8 pounds at speeds up to 400 mph. In addition, gelatine bird alternatives (4 pounds), ice balls, and metal fragments are launched at varying testing standards speeds. Comprehensive high-speed camera recordings accompany all tests, showcasing our system's prowess in accurately simulating bird and ice ball strikes at exceptionally high velocities.
Our high-speed camera recording services utilise cutting-edge CMOS sensor technology, achieving remarkable sensitivity and frame rates for critical testing applications. Operating at 1024 x 1024 at 12,800 fps (50000 fps at 512 x 384), our cameras are ideal for scientific and laboratory applications, offering macro analysis. A range of lenses, from 17 mm to 500 mm, is available to suit diverse needs.
We also provide global consulting services and on-site testing assistance, supported by a widespread dealer network with extensive high-speed video experience.
Our gas-gun facilities can launch relatively small-diametre projectiles up to 40 mm in diameter, which can have more complex shapes or designs.
It could simulate bird strikes, ice ball impacts, runway debris impact or carbon particles to impact various of structures like aircraft components, wing frontiers, fuselage, windscreen, turbine blades, or for bullet trains, to understand better the failure mechanisms as the impact is a complex event to measure.
Gas-gun can acheive up to 400 mph speed and up to 500 g projectile.
Our state-of-the-art Split-Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) facilities provide comprehensive capabilities for dynamic material testing. These apparatus encompasses tension, compression, torsion, and mini compression configurations, catering to a wide range of materials.
Our SHPB systems can achieve maximum pulse durations of up to 1000 µs, strain rates ranging from 200 to 1500 1/s, and speeds reaching 25 m/s. These configurations enable a broad spectrum of experiments, including tension-torsion and expanding ring tests. With additional capabilities for high-speed cameras and Digital Image Correlation, our SHPB service ensures a comprehensive understanding of material behaviour under dynamic loading conditions.
Our expert team conducts diverse explosion, blast, and fire tests, deciphering the scientific intricacies of their properties. This competence is a crucial tool for accident prevention and effective mitigation. We cover dust explosions, vapour cloud explosions (VCE), rapid phase transitions (RPT), underwater and confined explosions. Our focus includes conventional and renewable energy production, hydrogen safety, biofuels, solar panel production, and more. Trust us for precise insights that enhance safety across industries. Non-confined explosions benefit from 3D DIC and high-speed camera recording.
